This enrollment runs from Wed Apr 1, 2015 - Tue May 12, 2015
SPRING IS FINALLY HERE! Finding it a bit difficult to come from this hibernation? Is caffeinated tea or coffee all that gets you going? Perhaps you've never seen yourself as a "morning person"... We have concocted a yoga program for you to create a positive shift in your lifestyle. Your early morning instructors are asking you to step up to meet the 30 Day Sunrise Challenge! Spring is upon us! And it is time for renewal of the soul and the body; a time to celebrate rebirth. As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, we could find ourselves in need of a change in routine.

Why are we doing this? When you practice yoga in the morning, you are more likely to be disciplined with what you eat, often choosing healthier snacks because you don't want to sabotage your efforts of the morning exercise. Not to mention that you will be working your entire body from head to toe, increasing flexibility, toning muscles and strengthening your core. Your early morning practice will ensure better sleep as well!

What's in it for you? Improved physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Begin each day with a more tranquil vibe; assisting in focus throughout the day. $5.00 smoothies throughout the challenge! Order before or after class, during 6AM Hour of Powers only. Harmony Facebook posts marking your milestones (5, 10, 20 days, etc.)

Surya Namaskara contains the foundation for the entire practice that follows it. It is a complete practice in and of itself. And it is the place where the mind and body connect in a rhythmic correlation to the breath. If I could only to choose one part of the practice to work on for the rest of my life, it would be Surya Namaskara. It is infinitely complex and profoundly simple. Complete with back bends, forward bends, lateral extensions, strength postures,, inversions, and standing postures. Here we will look at alignment techniques for each posture, and depe ujjayi breathing.

This enrollment runs from Fri May 15, 2015 - Fri May 15, 2015
Yoga Nidra is a highly relaxed and deep state of meditation that progresses through the many stages or layers of the mind, promoting healing and union within. Practiced in a cozy and supported reclined position, students will be guided gently through the physical, emotional, and mental layers of the being. It is a journey through stillness and mindfulness in order to gain a greater sense of clarity, calmness, and serenity. You will experience sensations that can sometimes bring you to a higher form of understanding oneself while also bringing relief and healing to chronic and acute conditions - whether they be physical or mental. In this workshop we will discuss the discovery of your heartfelt desire, intention, and explore affirmations. You will then be guided through a series of stretching postures to prepare the body for stillness followed by a 45-minute Yoga Nidra meditation. This class is a profound experience and the benefits can continue for weeks after a session. You will leave this workshop not only feeling more refreshed than you ever have, but with a higher sense of daily awareness that you can take with you wherever you go!

"In Yoga Nidra, you leave the Waking state, go through the Dreaming state, and into the Deep Sleep state, yet remain fully awake."

This enrollment runs from Sat May 16, 2015 - Sat May 16, 2015
Mysore style is the traditional method taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, named after the small city where Guruji lived for much of his life. In this style, the method of Ashtanga Yoga is transmitted from the teacher directly to the individual student through physical adjustments and minimal verbal cueing. Gradually, the student is able to commit to memorize a series of postures and rbeaths that comprise the series. Once the student memorizes and becomes proficient at a pose, they are then taught the next pose and so on until the Primary Series is complete. When the student is firmly grounded in its techniques, she will move on to the intermediate series, and further. There are six series in Ashtanga Yoga; at this time there is one one person, R Sharth Jois, Guruji's grandson, who practices all six series.

Daylene Christensen: Incredible Backbends with Daylene Christensen Next held on Sun, May 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This enrollment runs from Sun May 17, 2015 - Sun May 17, 2015
Backbends are perhaps the most important postures to counter in the stresses and activities of modern life. They are the most important and most often the most daunting. When learning and practicing the Primary Series, a practice of mainly forward bends and twists, it can seem like a cruel joke to then - on top of an already challenging practice, end practice with a round of backward bending. Backbends can feel exhausting and impossible when we first learn them. We will explore the postures in the Primary Series that lead to the most pleasant backbending experience possible. In this workshop, we will explore ways to work with backbends that will focus on how to build openness in the front side of the body. Open your hips and shoulders and inspire overall strength, making the common sore back a thing of the past! We will look at some alignment principles and practices that can forever take the painful and uncomfortable associations with the lower back and transform them into the exillerating experience they can be! Thought strenght is not often associated with deep backbends, and more flexibility is emphasized, you will walk away with a new understanding of the important role strength plays in your backbends and overall health of your spone. Compound that with good form, and you will gain new insights to the power of deep backbending. Demonstration and practices will be included to guide you to eventually stand up and drop back from Urdhva Dhanurasana (wheel pose) on your own!
