Class Descriptions
RESTORATIVE YOGA:
Come and enjoy a restful practice designed to engage the relaxation response so the body can renew at a deep level. Classes include several poses where students, using props including bolsters, stay in the pose for five to seven minutes, allowing the body to release. Pranayama and yoga nidra are also part of this rejuvenating practice.
CANDLELIGHT YOGA:
Step into the surrounding of a uniquely illuminated candlelit studio with soothing mellow music to guide you away from the stresses and tensions of the day. This class is open to all levels but still remains physically challenging and spiritually motivating. Through posture, breath and unique relaxing techniques you’ll end your practice with the melting (yoking) of mind and body, preparing you for a state of deep relaxation. You'll begin to gain a deeper awareness of your body and develop higher levels of strength, focus, and flexibility nourishing both mind and soul. Always being guided by your comfort, modifications are introduced for challenging poses so that all students can work comfortably at their own level.
SCULPTING YOGA:
This class starts with a gentle yoga warm up followed by sculpting moves with free weights done to rockin’ music! This class will build muscular strength, promote muscular balance, and flexibility. Class also includes mat core work and a final relaxation segment. Soft dumbbells and resistance bands are provided.
BASIC BEGINNERS WORKSHOP:
This workshop will introduce the beginner and continuing student to the basic history, vocabulary, postures, alignment principles, breathing and relaxation techniques in a safe and supportive environment. This is a two and half hour workshop and is offered the first Saturday of each month.
GENTLE YOGA:
Geared towards the beginning and returning student, these classes focus on the basic yoga postures and techniques that can be applied to practically any style of yoga. Basic breathing techniques, postural alignment and yoga philosophy will be introduced.
ALIGNMENT IN ASANA:
Understand the principles of alignment to make your practice safe and to open to the flow of prana through the body and spirit. This practice will weave alignment principles into the alignment process and will include pranayama and yoga nidra.
VINYASA YOGA:
These movement-based classes offer creative and unique sequences of poses that flow together without the heat. Our vinyasa classes are richly infused with classical yoga teachings, pranayama and light meditation to tame the mind and open the heart. This class places a great emphasis on the coordination of breath with movement, leaving the student feeling energized and more focused.
PRANA VINYASA FLOW:
Practice linking breath and movement. introduction to inversions, more challenging back bends, and arm balances. Prana Vinyasa Flow: an athletic session for more experienced yogis. not suggested for basic level yogis. Prana vinyasa flow or prana flow yoga is the emerging name that speaks to the integration of her studies in tantra and ayurveda to offer an energetic approach to the evolution of flow. every aspect of yoga is explored as the underlying movement of conscious life-force or prana-shakti. essentially, we are connected.
POWER VINYASA:
Based in the popular Baron Baptise Power Vinyasa yoga method, this challenging flowing practice synchronizes movement and breath in a room heated to about 85°. Bring a towel and be prepared to sweat as you go with the flow and to the music — sculpting a new body, releasing toxins and clarifying the mind.
YIN YOGA:
Gently stretch the connective tissues, targeting the pelvis, hips and lower spine with this accessible practice. Appropriate for all ages, levels of fitness and flexibility. Taught as an embodied meditation practice, yin yoga engages the mind in focused contemplation of classical Eastern wisdom teachings.
MAT PILATES:
These classes develop core strength and stability. Pilates restores the natural curve of the spine, relieving tension, achieving optimal strength, flexibility and endurance without risking injury and building bulk.
KID’S YOGA:
Kid's Yoga is fun! It sets your child for a lifetime of good health, radiance and happiness! By using nature and animal-themed games, dance and song to stimulate the mind, the creative spirit and enhance the health, our class offers a safe and fun environment for children ages 4-9 years of age to expand, explore and express their unique physical, emotional, mental and spiritual gifts.
Classes follow a flexible structure based on the age, interest, and ability of the child. Stories and music accompany our fun and educational “journeys” to exotic lands. The children use their imaginations and Animal Yoga postures to learn new vocabulary, develop motor and movement skills, and to understand balance and relaxation.
